"a different style where respect for animals and agreement with colleagues and customers pass before patronage and gallery"
Open Range is above all a Quarter Horse and Paint Horse breeding. But it is also a concept, a lifestyle in a rare setting that we wanted to develop for ourselves and to share with those who will recognize themselves in our values.
The purpose of breeding is to offer horses of prestigious bloodlines, trained and educated respecting gentle and natural methods.
We love ranch work, outdoor riding, training foals on foot or on horseback and preparing horses according to the codes of western riding while refuting the divide between different riding styles.
We created Open Range out of love for horses and nature. Our company is anything but a factory to produce foals, a tourist site (although it deserves it) and is not intended to become an equestrian center. Our breeder ethics will always make us prefer respect for animals and attachment to our values to clientelism or commercial opportunities.
Considering that an animal is deserved, we remain attentive to the destination of our horses. They are used to living outdoors in sufficient space, in contact with other equines and humans, to be led with authority but also and above all with respect and kindness.
Despite 30 years at the head of a company, JP has always felt the soul of a landowner.
His first experience riding is back to 30 years but it was only in 2007 that he acquired his first horses. Therefore the virus is taken and not let go until launch in 2012 in the Open Range Ranch creation.
JP Open Range wants to give a different style for his ranch where respect for animals and agreement with his colleagues pass before patronage and gallery.
Open Range would probably not have happened, at least in its current form, without ideas, advice, encouragement and work of Flo.
Aside from his professional skills in a career in advertising and communication, Flo brings to our operating experience of riding and daily monitoring of the well-being of our herd.
Mental stability and sociability horses from our breeding are largely based on the innate and spontaneous Flo contact with animals, especially with foals.
Also a writer and leatherworker, Flo brings an artistic touch to Open Range through the craftsmanship of leather items to discover on the Atelier website.
